- Fantastic text and your media issue now has much more clarity. Focusing on Asian representations will work well and will hopefully prevent the gap in Q&A in the Ignite presentation.
- Your research plan is going to be crucial – needs to balance online resources (many of which will already be in your summer project research) with powerful academic research. Make sure Gilroy is a major part of your research plan – books ordered and on the way!
- One critical part is your title or question – I think the change you’ve made to the focus will mean your question is really focused and has lots of clarity but just make sure the working title and hypothesis is clear in your proposal document.
- Linked production – TV movie opening sequence. This could work – keep it in mind, we’ll focus on it in more detail in January but no harm in the meantime watching similar dramas and thinking about how yours could work.
- Next steps: finish project proposal and start building a comprehensive research plan.
- Post this to your blog with a brief plan for what you will work on in the next 10 days.
My next steps in this project is to research more on the representations of Asian communities within England. This will include me watching, analysing many different types of text, e.g. Goodness Gracious Me and many more.
